Important announcement from DropTheBelt.com about the beta and the new features coming up after Wrestlemania.
Thank you for participating in the DropTheBelt.com beta. We’ve learned a lot over the past year and we have some big changes in store. We will be relaunching the site shortly after WrestleMania with a ton of improvements. To that end, we’ve set the end dates on all leagues to be WrestleMania (April 1, 2012) so that we can upgrade to the new site.
Here’s a small taste of what’s in store:
Public leagues: You will now be able to participate in a public league with people from around the Internet without having to form your own league. This is great news if you want to play the game but don’t have enough friends who want to play. Think of it as a matchmaking service. To facilitate this, we will of course have online drafts to pick your favorite wrestlers. All public leagues will start on the season start dates as defined below.
Private leagues: Want to create a league with a few of your friends? Want to start it later than the season start dates (below)? You can still do so, and in fact we will be providing season over season stat tracking and all sorts of historical stats. There will be a small $0.99 fee per season to maintain this, but we have even better news for our valued beta testers (that’s you, if you’ve signed up before April 1, 2012)... You don’t have to pay it! That’s right, as our way of saying thanks for helping us out in the early going, you play for free as long as you want.
Seasons: We had played with letting everyone define their own seasons in the beta, but we believe everyone will be better served if we set some definitive seasons up ourselves. In addition to making stats more valuable and easier to compare it will give us a few weeks of down time every year to upgrade the site without disturbing anyone’s games. We are tentatively planning on Nov 1 through WrestleMania being the primary season, taking most of April off and running the secondary season May 1 through the September PPV, taking off October. The off months will also give everyone a chance to hold their online drafts.
Other changes: There will be numerous tweaks to the scoring system and stats everywhere (by wrestler, by season, by team) too many new features to mention here, but if you have any suggestions, concerns, or questions, please feel free to leave a comment below.
Thanks for playing!
