A recap of RAW, preview of Smackdown (no match result spoilers), AND WTF JOHN CENA/RVD/AJ LEE MADNESS IN GENERAL
So you all saw it and probably don't need me to say it, but what an awful Raw. And spoiler alert to the non-spoiler Smackdown preview, but wow that one looks even worse. Then we just had a Main Event show where 3MB won a match and Tamina did too. This season is officially bananas.
Then a little other tidbit happened that you all might not be privy to (okay you were since it was announced on Raw): JOHN CENA IS BACK ALREADY?!?!?!? Now if it wasn't for drop the belt and if I wasn't in last place, this sort of unexpected news would make me boycott the WWE until the Rumble and/or jump out of the nearest window, but since I am on DroptheBelt and I happen to be in last place in my league (yes, I'm the same guy who writes suggestions for you to follow, and I'm in last place), this is FANTASTIC news. The great equalizer, John Cena is back months prior to what was previously announced and expected, and receiving a World Title shot on his first night back?! And I get to trade some worthless bum off my squad for him? Yeah, I think I'll do that.
In other, not so exciting news if like me you took RVD in the first round of your draft, RVD is taking time off for a "mental and spiritual" break or something like that. Great. Hey, guess who I'm dropping for Cena? And just days ago I was predicting him to win the World Title. I'm a little worried this is all some giant fake out, and RVD is coming back next week dressed as old school John Cena and rapping while blunted (or kicking field goals?, ">DAN SMITH?), then I'll be left with a guy who just had elbow surgery 2 days ago and the 2nd to last guy on my league will end up with this RVD/Cena amalgam who will win the belt at Hell in a Cell. ....
Also, AJ Lee has a concussion and Christian may be back soon, more on those later
Onto the smackdown preview! Wait til you get a load of this. This looks like a Main Event episode if it wasn't for the fact that we just got a Main Event episode that looked like an old episode of WCW Thursday Night Thunder. WWE is trolling us, hard. As usual these are from www.prowrestling.net and contain no match result spoilers
10/11/2013 Smackdown Preview
1. Curtis Axel vs R-Truth for the IC title: Okay at least we're getting a title match, but my god, is there anyone who cares about this? Please end this feud here, or please end in R-Truth's retirement. PLEASE. Axel retains, probably via cheating
2. Los Matadores vs Los Locales (reportedly Ricardo Rodriguez and Tyson Kidd): Squash match for the Matadores! Or maybe Los Locales are a legitimate new tag team who will get some sort of push? I doubt it. Squash match for the Matadores!
3. Natalya, Eva Marie, and Kaitlyn vs Cameron, Naomi and Brie Bella: It'll be interesting to see where the WWE tries to go now that AJ is out with a concussion. I mean it's possible she'll be back quicker than others have seemed to have been gone with concussions, but without a title in the mix where's the intrigue? Out of these 6 I'd think Brie would get the pin but seriously you could make a case for all 6. Is this faces vs faces? I dont understand this match at all. Maybe Kaitlyn gets some shine back? Or the new girl Eva? I'll stick with "common sense" and say Brie Bella gets the pin, but seriously who knows
4. Alberto Del Rio vs Damien Sandow: Okay now that I'm writing about this show it doesnt seem as bad as I imagined. I mean I kinda like that they're playing up the Sandow cash in, especially with Cena's return at HIAC. Is it possible they'll have Cena get a quick win over Del Rio that doesn't involve him doing much with his elbow, and then have Sandow cash in and "injure him again" until his REAL return? This all just seems strange, how Cena's return is being played out, and also how they're all the sudden hyping the Sandow MITB contract several times a show. Something seems fishy here. Very odd heel vs heel match here, am I crazy in thinking maybe Sandow pulls out a win to add further hype over his briefcase cashing potential? Maybe Cena's music plays and Sandow gets the roll up a la Rodriguez on Monday? I'm gonna go with something like that. Sandow gets the "upset"
5. The Prime Time Players and Great Khali vs 3MB: Yikes. So 3MB just pulled an "upset" over Tons of Funk on Main Event, though that was a 3-2 handicap match. Still, maybe WWE is going to give them some wins to make up for their losing roughly 300 matches in a row? It's not like PTP and Khali are in some sort of position to NEED a win like say, Los Matadores. It's still impossible to go with 3MB winning anything. I'll go with PTP/Khali here in a "how many shots of Jameson do I need to make this entertaining" stip match
6. Luke Harper and Erick Rowan vs Cody Rhodes and Goldust: Now this I like, and I have no idea who will win, which is always good. How can either team afford a loss? Oh that's right, schmozz. Shield run in to beat up Cody and Golddust? Usos run out for the save? It's hard for me to picture any clear winner. In fact... LOCK OF THE WEEK IS THAT SCHMOZZ HAPPENS
Exciting rising/falling this week!
Rising
1. John Cena: duh
2. Christian: Well, if you believe this sort of report anyhow. For the record I think he's worth a pickup if you have an underperformer on your team and can't get Cena. He'd be a pretty good choice to replace Truth in the feud with Axel right about now....
3. Eva Marie: Did you notice how she got some ring time while Jojo didn't on Monday? And now for Smackdown she's in another mixed tag? Have you also noticed she's one of the hottest girls I've ever seen in my life? Okay not sure how you'd know that about me, but yes, it's true! So long as she can wrestle, which she probably cant, she should have a bright future ahead of her. Could be a dark horse pick for the rest of the season
4. R-Truth: As much as I dislike him, he's been a solid point getter this season and is tied with RVD for the season and has more than Ryback or either Uso, yet he's probably available in a lot of leagues. While I dont like his chances for too many more points, he might have a few more wins in him
5. Khali/3MB: All have more points than either PTP or Tons of Funk member, and more than the Miz. Will that hold up? I doubt it, but keep an eye on where the WWE goes with them..
Falling:
1. RVD: From 1st round draft pick and potential World Title winner, to taking an undisclosed amount of time off to rest mentally and spiritually. Dropped. Let's see, almost zero chance he's back by HIAC and IMO doubtful that he'll be back by Survivor Series. Probably back for TLC or the Rumble, but in the meantime I dont think he's worth holding
2. AJ Lee: Look, I'm not saying drop her, I wouldnt if I had her on my team until we know more, but these concussions are being treated (rightfully) as serious issues in the WWE lately. It could be a month or two before we see her back in the ring. Definitely a blow to those who have her on their teams right now
3. Tons of Funk/PTP: One just lost to 3MB and the other has a match where they're no guarantee to win against 3MB. Also? All 4 have ZERO points. Not a good look guys.
