Choke's WWE Payback 2013 Predictions and Fantasy Preview

My predictions and preview of tonight's PPV

Decent looking card, but unfortunately one that doesnt leave too much to the imagination as far as who will win and lose.   The most compelling stories are a) what will happen with Punk, b) is Randy finally turning heel and c) how many innocents will fall victim to Sheamus' shameful bullying?

On that note, let's get started

Pre-show:  Damien Sandow vs Sheamus

Classic good vs evil, as our intellectual savior battles the bully who's running rampant terrorizing announcers, interviewers, and anyone else who gets in his way.   Oh wait, he's the face?   Shit.   Sandow doesn't stand much of a chance I'm afraid.  Sheamus continues his roll to a WWE Championship feud in the future

Who should win:   Sandow (because bullies dont deserve to win)
Who will win:  Sheamus

Triple Threat match for the IC Belt:  Wade Barrett vs Miz vs Curtis Axel

Interesting how this match came about.   Obviously Axel's entire storyline revolves around him being undefeated and beating several top superstars, so it's hard to go against him tonight.   It confuses me that they just threw him in here once Fandango was hurt though.  What does this mean for Fandango going forward if the original plan was for him to win it as most believe?   I'm tempted to go with a Miz win or Barrett retain just because I think something might happen to shift this match again (and not make Axel look bad in the process.  Possibly a HHH appearance?), but I gotta go with the heavy favorite and say Axel comes away with the belt.

Who should win:  Axel (by default.  I mean who cares about this belt anymore anyway?)
Who will win:  Axel (though I still think something funny might happen here)

Divas Championship match:  AJ Lee vs Kaitlyn

Finally AJ is getting her shot.   Kaitlyn has been utilized so poorly by the WWE (what else is new?), as I really think they could have gotten her crazily over with the crowd and had her at Trish Stratus levels of popularity.  Instead they'd leave her off TV for weeks at a time, give us Alicia Fox vs Aksana matches instead, and everyone lost interest.  The tricky thing about going with the obvious AJ win is, what happens after?   Part of me thinks the Bellas will get a big push once that show on E! starts up next month, so will they do heel vs heel there?   Kaitlyn vs the Bellas makes more sense to me.    I love how much thought I'm putting into this right now.   ummmmm

Who should win:   Kaitlyn (just to develop this feud more, and get the Bellas involved)
Who will win:  AJ Lee (because the WWE doesnt care about developing feuds that make sense)

United States Championship:  Kane vs Dean Ambrose

Thrown together at the last second to give Kane something to do.  He stands no chance at winning the title.  Maybe we'll see schmozz and a DQ retention from Ambrose, but it's almost impossible to see Kane going over clean here.   One of the easier calls tonight.

Who should win:   Ambrose (or maybe Kane via DQ or countout)
Who will win:  Ambrose (he'll certainly retain)

World Heavyweight Championship:  Dolph Ziggler vs Del Rio

Guys I'm so angry with myself.   I checked my sports betting site to see the odds for the matches last night, and Del Rio was a HUGE favorite, which made me think "Oh my god, they're stripping Ziggler of the belt already".   I mean the sports betting site is NEVER wrong.   So this morning I decided, I have to bet Ziggler, maybe they got some wrong info.   I go to bet him, and it's now about at even money meaning coin flip.    If Ziggler wins like he should and like everyone expects, I mean, I could have won like $1500 betting 100 on him last night.   Kill me.    He HAS to retain here.   It would be so ludicrous for anything to happen otherwise.    By the way, even when I look at the odds, I never let it affect my predictions here, so dont worry about spoilers

Who should win:  Dolph Ziggler
Who will win:  Ziggler (right WWE?  RIGHT?!?!?!?!   I'm nervous)

Chris Jericho vs CM Punk in a will he or wont he match.  (+500 DTB stip points! j/k)

I was so set on the thought that Punk simply wouldnt show up, that maybe this was all a swerve from Heyman and Axel would come out to beat up on Jericho.   Then Axel got thrown into the triple threat and that theory went out the window a bit.   It would be extremely bizarre for the WWE to advertise this as much as they have and not have Punk come out.   Couldnt people demand refunds?  Am I crazy for even thinking that?   I saw and loved a theory on prowrestling.net that Punk and Jericho would both turn.  Meaning Punk turns face and Y2J becomes a Heyman guy.   As much as I love that idea, I dont think that happens either.   I do think Punk turns on Heyman at some point, and maybe it's Punk vs Lesnar at Summerslam (shrug).    I like Jericho actually getting the win here setting the stage for some big Punk turn or storyline.

Who should win:   with this match, we should ALL win.   either way should make for some good storytelling
Who will win:   Rolling the dice with Jericho.  Could go either way IMO

WWE Tag Team Championships:  Randy Orton/Daniel Bryan vs Seth Rollins/Roman Reigns

Another interesting match ripe with storyline.   I have to say it every story, but DAMN Bryan is so over right now.  It's hard for me to see anything happening other than a Ziggler vs Bryan Summerslam or Survivor Series match for the World Championship.   Bryan definitely needs to be involved in the top 2 belts, and soon.   Will we finally see an Orton heel turn which has been speculated on for about 2 years?   I think we see more seeds planted for it, but not a full fledged turn tonight.   Maybe on Raw tomorrow or down the line at MITB.   It just seems too obvious to happen right this second.   AND THE WWE NEVER DOES ANYTHING OBVIOUS.   (insert rolling eyes emoticon).   I expect some miscommunication between Bryan and Orton leading to a clean Shield win.   Or Kane runs out and fucks everything up because he's an idiot.

Who should win:  the Shield
Who will win:  The Shield

John Cena vs Ryback in a most stipulations ever match for the WWE Championship

LOL @ Lumberjack match.  Shouldn't those be reserved for middle of the month Smackdown shows?  I mean who really cares about Lumberjack matches.   Obviously I'm going with a Cena retention here, though I dont know WHY it should be that obvious.  What's next for him if he beats Ryback?  And where does Ryback go after a loss?   These are the types of questions I'd normally like to have answers to before making a prediction, and I'm at a loss on those.  Mark Henry for Cena?   A returning Big Show or CM Punk?  HUNICO?   Okay, I know, we'll probably just get another 3 months of Ryback vs Cena.   I hate you all.    I'll say Cena wins lumberjack, Ryback wins tables, and Cena wins the amberlamps match to finish.

Who should win:  Ryback (because CHANGE)
Who will win:  Cena (because WWE)
