A preview of this Friday's Smackdown, along with how you should prepare for the trade window opening
FINALLY........... LIVE SHOWS HAVE RETURNED TO THE WWE
You were supposed to imagine that in the Rock's voice. ANYWAY. By now we're all still recovering from the awfulness that was the 2 weeks of holiday taped shows that resulted in about 5 minutes of entertaining footage overall out of what, 12 hours? I couldn't even bear to write any real stories about the game during that period because quite simply there was nothing to report.
As for this past Monday's RAW and the Smackdown show which was taped, here's what I think you need to know for the upcoming trade window.
By now you all know Alberto Del Rio has won the World Heavyweight Championship from the Big Show for Friday's show. If you didn't know this, then I'm sorry? I don't know how you missed it though, as I do my best to avoid these sorts of spoilers but when WWE is tweeting it out on Tuesday night along with 100s of other wrestlers/wrestling sites, its pretty much unavoidable and is an awful thing IMO. Obviously this makes him the top riser for the week, but let's be honest, he's not available in your league so there's no point putting him there. Punk also got some much needed points with his LEGIT title defense against Ryback (and also dropped ">the best promo I've heard in probably a year), but again, he's probably not available so not listing him. Wade Barrett finally won the IC title as well which didn't come as a surprise. I think that about wraps up the biggest news that has absolutely no relevance to the trade window. Yup, I just wasted a good 45 seconds of your time
As a bit of side news WWE has apparently signed El Generico which is great. At this point I can't imagine them rushing him to the ring anytime soon so he's not a consideration this season IMO.
Rising:
1. The Rock: I only am listing him here because some people might be in leagues where everyone is half asleep and forgot to pick up the Rock since the time they drafted. It wouldn't hurt to check just in case. But yes, if you can get him, he's certainly going to be worth holding from this point forward
2. Kaitlyn: Yeah, this is the last time I'm listing her here until she actually wins the Divas belt. It HAS to be coming soon right?! RIGHT?!?!
3. 3MB: They're back in full force on TV, with seemingly a match every show (and sometimes 2). I'm still not completely sold that they'll WIN many of them, but they're good as the anchors of your team
Also: Will Tyson Kidd get a push after his Punk shout out? PTP have a match against Hell No this Friday... will they win? Will it matter if they do? Cesaro keeps his impressive sophomore campaign going, Sheamus is nearly the dominant force he was last season yet again, Rhodes Scholars look poised to take the tag belts for the 4th month in a row, The Shield keep doing work, and Ziggler keeps getting a decent amount of points for seemingly never winning matches
Falling:
1. Rey Mysterio: Milk Carton alert #1. Are they going to wait for Sin Cara to get back before having Rey do anything again? Sure it could be soon, but 30 pts for Rey and 4 for Sin Cara this season are not a good look. Plus Rhodes Scholars still seem to be THE tag team against Hell No right now. I do imagine if Rhodes wins it Sin Mysterio will get a crack shortly after
2. Fandango: I thought this guy was a decent pickup pre-season, with rumors he'd be out at TLC. Well, it's been a few weeks since, and nothing. Personally I'd abandon ship. Who am I kidding, I'm sure no one else drafted him anyway
3. Khali: I'm still tentative on putting Khali here. First of all he is one of the top point getters so far this season. The argument is that that was just to set him up against Cesaro who demolished him twice. Good news? He has another match on Smackdown this week. I'd still hold onto him for the time being personally unless you have a great opportunity to pick up another solid point getter. Plus you still have the rumble which could be a nice little point getter for him in a few weeks.
Also: Kofi lost the belt and then lost insanely fast to Big Show, but I still think he's a great hold and that he'll be in the mix for the World Championship soon (probably in Elimination Chamber), David Otunga and the new David Otunga, Brad Maddox, continue to do nothing for points, and PTP/Usos seem on the outside looking in yet again for the tag titles.

First off, I had no idea about Alberto Del Rio until I read this story. WTF! Bonus points for me.
For those of you who don't know about El Generico here's a great video:
